Interactive 3D scatter plot visualisation of epidemiological trends of spondylodiscitis in Germany between 2005-2021.

(IBSI, EANS Spine Section & University of Cambridge)

The data for this visualisation is sourced from the comprehensive German federal database statistics.
The three axes of the plot represent the number of diagnoses, the associated deaths, and the length of hospital stays (LOS). Each data point on the plot represents a year within the specified range and is colored according to the average age of patients for that year. As you interact with the plot, you can see how these three variables have evolved over time. By using the animation controls, you can play or pause the plot's progression through the years. This visualization provides an intuitive and informative way of understanding the impact and development of spondylodiscitis in Germany over the past 16 years.
